Three Word Wednesday

This is something I found through Carrie's blog. I've checked it out every week for about a month and have never taken the time to write anything myself (although I like some of the other words better than today's). Today, I got bored at work. Here are the instructions:

Welcome to Three Word Wednesday. Each week, I will post three (or more) random words. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write something using all of those words. It can be a few lines, a story, a poem, anything.

This week's words are:

Gray
Fathom
Memphis

It was the first time she'd ever been to Tennessee. She had dreamed of visiting Memphis since she was a girl. Her itinerary lay on the desk before her. She would visit Graceland, of course (she was a big fan). A trip to Beale Street after that, and before she left she would be sure to stop by the Peabody Hotel to see the ducks. Her sister had told her she could not leave without laying eyes on them.

She was on this trip to clear her head. To fill it with things that did not remind her of Jack, driving away in his fancy new car with the gray leather seats. She had thought she finally found The One. He had told her he loved her. He promised her the moon. How foolish she had been. She had had no way of knowing the heartache he would cause her. And now - now that it was over - she could not fathom ever feeling that way about someone again. The way he made her heart race when he approached, the way he kissed her so softly and the way his hand felt in hers, so strong and secure.

But thinking about him was only delaying her from enjoying this trip! She was so excited to see the sights. She took her jacket from the bed and locked the door behind her. Walking with confidence through the lobby she stepped out into the warm air and turned her face toward the sun.
