Amish white bread

Makes two delicious loaves.

2 cups warm water
2/3 cups white sugar
1 1/2 Tbs. active dry yeast
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
6 cups bread flour

In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water. Stir in yeast, allowing it to form a creamy foam. Add salt and oil and stir well. Mix flour in one cup at a time. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place dough in an oiled bowl and turn to coat the dough. Cover with a damp cloth and allow to rise for 1 hour. Punch the dough down and knead. Divide in half and place each half in a greased bread pan. Let rise for 30 more minutes. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
