Inked

Last night I asked my neighbor (who is Saudi Arabian and does Arabic calligraphy) to write the word dance for me so that I could play with it and turn in into a tattoo design. He showed me several different types of calligraphy (each one said the same thing but looked very different). This is the one I liked the best and he drew it on my foot for me so I could kind of get an idea of how it will look. I will position it a little closer to my toes and it will only be about half this size, but essentially it will look like this:

The first word is my name, the second says dance (but looks very slightly different than the one on my foot). I asked 3 other Saudi's (separately) what these words say and they all answered the same thing. I trust Anwar so I'm confident that this really is the Arabic word (verb) for dance.


The next time Tessa comes to visit (if she can get her design figured out! haha) we will probably go to the tattoo place together and get inked. I'm glad I finally sat down with Anwar last night and had him do this because he moves tomorrow and I was glad I could offer my opinion on which calligraphy I liked the best.
