Seven

Jordan,

Happy birthday, Boo! I can't even tell you just how much I love you and how happy I am that I am a part of your life and I get to be with you on your birthday. I can't believe you are SEVEN!

You have grown up so much since I met you when you were four. I remember one of the first times I met you. I told you goodbye and got out of the car and started to walk away. Then Daddy called me back to the car and you were crying your heart out, saying you wanted to come with me and you didn't want me to go because you were having fun. I love that you still tell me you don't want me to go and you ask to come to my apartment to play.

You are such a smart boy and it amazes me that you are going into FIRST GRADE this year! You were so excited at the beginning of the summer, telling everyone who would listen, "I'm a first grader now!" I can't wait to watch you learn so many new things this year and to keep growing from a little boy into a big boy (even though I also wish you would stay small forever).

You have made lots of new friends over the past year. You talk about your friends from school a lot. I started babysitting a little boy just three days younger than you and you and he have become fast friends.

You still ask Daddy and I, at least once a week, for a baby brother. You talk about us getting married and all of us living in a house with stairs. We've started asking you what you'd like to name your baby brother and every time we get a different answer. You are a creative guy. =)

You've lost a lot of teeth in the last few months! Right now you don't have any front teeth and after you lost them you learned how to whistle! You are very proud of this skill and walk through the house whistling all the time.

Some things you like: Mac and cheese, ramen noodles, Spiderman, playing at the park, school, digging in the dirt, Batman, playdough, impressing people with the things you know, being read to, beating Daddy at video games, being outside, swimming, your family.

Some things you don't like: Bathtime (until you get in - then it's alright), being told you can't have something, being woken up, most food, brushing your teeth, dogs, riding in cars other than Daddy's, shots.

Daddy and I are so proud of you, buddy. You are growing up so fast and we love watching you learn new things every day. We've had our challenges - your terrible twos happened when you were six - but you are a very loving boy and we wouldn't trade you for anything. I can't wait to see what new things you learn and what challenges you overcome this year.

We love you.

** We would really appreciate prayer today. Jordan's mom is not in his life but usually chooses his birthday to pop up and act like everything is normal. It's tough for us to find a balance between letting Jordan know his mom and protecting him from the very person that she is. Please pray for wisdom and patience for us today. At the very least we don't want any stress that we have about the situation to show through to Jordan on his birthday.

He is such a cute little guy, and he still looks the same as the last time I saw him!!!

Good luck at not hearing from the mother though, I know she just stresses everyone out.

Happy Birthday Jordan!!!!
